PROVIDENCIA CHARITY PROJECT 2021/2022

During the winter of 2021/22 Simon Vargas embarked on a large scale charity project raising $7,800 USD for the island of Providencia which suffered a catastrophic category 5 hurricane last fall.

Vargas decided to do a limited edition series of high quality prints based off of one unique acrylic on wood painting to raise funds.

He partner up with @standuprovidencia for the development of a community center energized by solar panels where people of all ages can take classes/workshops, have community activities, discussions and most importantly a secure location where they can take shelter during future storms or natural disasters on the island.

Charity Raffle Project Summer 2020

During the Summer of 2020 Simon began a months-long charity endeavor both in the US and in Latin America.

Simon raised over $4,000 USD for a variety of charity groups primarily assisting Afro Colombian communities with hunger and COVID19 crisis management in Colombia as well as organizations in the United States with the goals of combating systemic racism and violence domestically and abroad. As part of the charity project Simon created this unique oil painting.

Ultimately the piece was raffled off from 70 people that participated to one lucky winner. The piece is now on display in Bogota, Colombia.

Simon partnered up with @semillas_ de_oportunidades, @fundacionjulie, @bazurto___ & @mvmnt4blklives to fund the different Afro communites.
